Southsea SeaLife Centre
The Blue Reef Aquarium is Southsea's Sealife Centre, just a short walk for the Seacrest, and houses a whole host of fascinating sea creatures! Their 'underwater tunnel' lets you see many of them up close.
They have several different species of sharks and rays for you to watch, including a Zebra shark and a Crested Horn shark. The 'predators' section includes stinging jellyfish, meat-eating Lionfish and other hunters of the deep.
Amphibians and repiles are also featured, along with lobsters, crab and shrimp. The coral reef exhibit shows how the centre grows different types of coral which helps them create authentic habitats for their many tropical and reef fish. There is also a 'native shores' section, where you can explore the wealth of marine life that lives in the Solent - not so far away, but usually hidden from sight.
If all the sharks and jellyfish leave you feel in need of a bit of cuteness, the otters will provide just that. An indoor freshwater display area is home to a family of Asian short claw otters, and you can watch them going about their daily life above and below the water.
